Never had a spray tan? Fear not, here are some frequently asked questions

Bride Spray Tan

Some find having their first spray tan experience quite daunting. I have being having spray tans done for as long as I remember and had the same person spray tan me for about 5 years in Australia. It's one of those relationships like with your hairdresser with this unspoken trust. I even found it daunting finding a new a person when I moved home to Ireland! But I trained up my sister in law so that has been a bonus! Enough about me and onto demystifying spray tans!

1. Preparation:

What I mean about this is skin prep on the lead up to your tan. I often post tanning tips to help with this but mostly it's don't wear any deodorant that day, shave or wax at least 24 hours prior to your tan. Moisture your skin regularly before a spray tan and don't forget to drink water! I have a consultation card that I will ask you to complete, with the usual question about allergies.

I will also need to do a patch test for all new clients 24 hours before your first spray tan. I will also talk you through all this at your patch test. I have a blog post on spray tanning and mature skin which covers skin preparation.

2. The Spray Tan:

So this is probably the unknown and daunting territory. Fear not. I will set my tent up in your home, most likely your bathroom. After I have set up my tent and spray tan machine, we will have a quick chat about what colour tan you would like. I use Cocoa Brown Professional Spray Tan which comes in two shades. I supply disposable underwear and hair net for your use. However how much clothes you take off is entirely up to you. Some like to strip it all off, some in a bikini or swim suit and some like to wear the disposable underwear.

I will give you some time to change in private and ask you once changed pop into the tent. I will talk you through all the moves as I spray tan you. I will also ask you if you would like to have your face tanned. This is a personal preference for people.

The machine can sound a little noisy when I turn it on but soon you will not notice the hum of it! The first spray onto your back will most likely feel cold especially in winter months but I will warn you before I start spraying!

Once the tan is done I will dry you with the spray tan machine. I will then give you some privacy to change.

3. After Your Tan:

I recommend having dark loose clothing to wear after your tan. My business cards also come with tan after care tips to get the most from your spray tan!
